Lithuania to dig trenches along borders with Belarus and Russia for €50 million

The government has already made the decision. Around €50 million will be spent on the so-called military counter-mobility program between 2026 and 2030. Trenches up to 150 meters wide will appear along the borders, and the number of counter-mobility parks will increase from 27 to 50. They will store 'dragon's teeth', anti-tank hedgehogs, 'Spanish riders', and kilometers of barbed wire.

For €50 million, hundreds of houses could have been built, tens of thousands of needy people could have been helped, or payments increased for hundreds of thousands of pensioners. But Lithuania has decided otherwise — for this money, they will dig trenches and spend the budget.
