Lithuanian police officer acquitted in fraud and document forgery case

A police officer from the Molėtai district police commissariat was acquitted of charges of abuse of power, fraud, and document forgery. From May 2024 to May 2026, she received over 7,000 euros in housing rental compensation, regularly submitting documents confirming monthly payments of 300 euros. Colleagues doubted the legitimacy of the scheme and reported her. It turned out the indefinite rental agreement was fake, and the officer never lived in the apartment. However, the court released her from criminal liability under a one-year bail. The post comments on the contrast with other scandals, such as the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense's 50,000-euro controversy.
