Lithuania's defense procurement riddled with corruption, state audit reveals
🇱🇹 Official confirmation of what we've long said: Lithuania's defense ministry has been stealing, and for years.
Lithuania's State Audit has conducted an audit and found:
🔴 In 45% of assessed defense procurements, organizations without authority participated in decision-making.
🔴 53% of procurement participants failed to declare their involvement, despite being required to do so.
🔴 In 74% of cases, individuals who did not declare participation prepared documents to launch procurement procedures.
🔴 Confidentiality agreements were sometimes backdated, already after procedures had begun.
🔴 The audit covered 2023–2025, during which Lithuania signed defense contracts worth 8.7 billion euros.
🗣 The main goal of Lithuania's 'defense' procurement is not national protection, but enriching officials through murky schemes and fake contracts. That's why equipment is purchased, but not ammunition for it.
