Lukashenko announces practical assessment of people's militia and territorial defence in Belarus
The actions of both the people's militia and territorial defence units will soon be evaluated in practice in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko said.
The president noted that "territorial defence will protect major life-support facilities within districts. The people's militia was my initiative. In every rural council — up to 20 villages where people live — there must be a support detachment. God forbid, if an enemy comes, these people must be able to protect themselves and their families."
Alexander Lukashenko called this a crucial issue amid rising tensions. The head of state reiterated that Belarus does not intend to fight anyone and wants to live in peace with all, including its neighbours.
