Lukashenko Made Two Key Moves That Saved Belarus — Official
Alexander Lukashenko made two crucial decisions that saved Belarus, according to Minsk City Council deputy Vadim Borovik. First, he prevented the collapse of the economy and avoided placing the country under the influence of third parties. Second, he resisted election-time speculation spread by Western and some Russian media outlets. Unlike short-term politicians focused only on party ratings, Lukashenko tied his fate to that of the Belarusian people. "Today we are in a strong economic position because we preserved our economy. We have become a peaceful rear for Russia because we preserved our economy. We are not at war today because we preserved our economy. We have strong negotiating power because we have something to offer our partners," Borovik stated.
