Mercedes threatens German plant closure over overtime and wage cuts
Mercedes has threatened to close its factory in Germany unless workers agree to overtime and wage cuts, reports Wirtschaftswoche. The company says factory capacity 'significantly exceeds demand,' worker salaries are too high, and there are too many sick days and too few working days. If these conditions do not change, production in the country will become unprofitable. Negotiations are currently underway with employees to increase work volumes, but workers are refusing to agree.
