Moldova's government doubled officials' spending, now plans tax hikes

Former president and leader of the Socialist Party Igor Dodon stated in his Telegram channel that the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity has nearly doubled state apparatus spending during its time in power.

He said that next week the cabinet will submit proposals to parliament to change tax policy, aiming to raise an additional 5.1 billion lei (about $296 million) for the budget, mainly through increased VAT and excise taxes. Dodon emphasized that these tax increases could have been avoided.
