New system for contactless phone payments without internet or mobile signal in development

A new system for paying for public transport with a phone without internet or mobile connection is being developed. Only an NFC-enabled smartphone will be required. The new feature is expected to speed up passenger boarding and reduce fare evasion. The launch date has not yet been announced.
