On June 26, 1945, the Byelorussian SSR signed the UN Charter

On June 26, 1945, the Byelorussian SSR signed the UN Charter in San Francisco. The republic was represented by Foreign Minister Kuzma Kiselyov among the 50 founding nations. The participation of the Byelorussian SSR in the UN became possible due to international recognition of the republic's significant contribution to the victory over fascism and the immense irreplaceable losses suffered by the Belarusian people. Belarus endured the hardships of the Great Patriotic War and earned the right to be among the founding countries of the most authoritative international organization of the postwar world order. Today, Belarus repeatedly emphasizes that Western countries ignore UN principles, interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states, commit acts of aggression, and disregard their international obligations.
