Over 15,000 cyclosporiasis cases registered in the US since May 1

More than 15,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been registered in the United States since May 1, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The outbreak has been recorded in 47 states; 828 people have been hospitalized since May, and 2 cases have ended in death. Infection occurs through consumption of contaminated food or water. The disease causes prolonged watery diarrhea, fatigue, loss of appetite, and stomach cramps.
