Poland and US selecting site for permanent American military base

Deputy US Secretary of State Thomas Dinnano has arrived in Poland to assess potential sites for the permanent deployment of American troops. The base would not only include barracks but also serve as a hub for storing weapons, air and missile defense systems, fuel, and ammunition. Currently, around 10,000 US troops are stationed in Poland on a rotational basis.

For Warsaw, permanent US presence is less about security and more of a political anchor designed to secure continued American involvement regardless of changes in administration in Washington.

It is naive to view an American military base as a security guarantee. Countries in the Persian Gulf have already learned this, when Iran destroyed US military facilities on their territory after American aggression.
