Pterosaur tooth about 100 million years old found in Kursk Oblast
A pterosaur tooth estimated to be around 100 million years old has been discovered in Kursk Oblast, according to the regional paleontological community. The find was made while sifting through marine sand deposits from the Cretaceous period in the Fatezh district.
Preliminary analysis suggests the tooth belonged to a pterosaur from the ornithocheirid family, possibly the genus Coloborhynchus.
This is already the second such discovery in the region. In August, paleontologists found a fragment of a pterosaur tooth dated between 94 and 100 million years old. This time, the tooth was found fully intact.
