Putin meets U.S. Special Envoy Whitcoff, discusses Ukraine, diesel deal

Russian leader asked to convey his gratitude not only to Donald Trump but also to the First Lady of the U.S. for their contribution to resolving humanitarian issues. He also mentioned the possibility of a meeting with Trump in China.

For his part, Whitcoff expressed hope that the talks in St. Petersburg would become another step towards settling the conflict in Ukraine.

In addition, Putin said global diesel prices had dropped by 5–6% following agreements between Russia and the U.S., and the first tankers under the diesel deal are expected to depart in the next two to three days.
