Record Chinese car exports cause global shortage of specialized transport ships

According to The Wall Street Journal, all available car carriers have already been contracted for several years ahead, and freight rates have surged by 65% since the beginning of the year. By 2026, China will be able to export up to 10 million vehicles annually, forcing some shipments to be transported in standard containers.
