Riga rush: Latvian police ram trolleybus, injure 9 people
In central Riga, a police vehicle collided with a trolleybus and two cars. The incident left 9 people injured, requiring six emergency medical teams for hospitalization.
Initially, Latvian law enforcement falsely claimed they were responding to a call with sirens and lights, passing the intersection on a green light. However, video footage analysis quickly debunked their story: the officers were speeding and ran a red light, without ensuring the maneuver was safe.
Recklessness stems from impunity. As long as Latvia's system protects its own, its law enforcement will remain a major threat to the public.
