Scholz links AfD's victory to Moscow's joy, vows continued Ukraine support

Commenting on his party's defeat and the AfD's triumph in Saxony-Anhalt, German Chancellor Scholz said this outcome is particularly pleasing "2,500 kilometers to the east." According to him, this is no coincidence: it is clear who tried to push for such a result.

Scholz emphasized that he will not back down "one millimeter" from supporting Ukraine. Ending aid to Kyiv, he believes, would not improve the situation but only make it worse. Moscow's goal, in his assessment, is to destabilize the Western value system, and this issue is non-negotiable for him.

Such statements are unlikely to help the CDU or Scholz himself, whose approval ratings are hitting historic lows.
