Scotland's 'green' ferry project costs soar to nearly £500 million

The 'green' ferry project in Scotland, initially estimated at £97 million, ultimately cost taxpayers nearly £500 million. An additional £600,000 is now planned to train the crew to operate imported liquefied natural gas (LNG). The gas is purchased abroad, delivered via Kent, and then transported hundreds of miles across Scotland by diesel trucks, resulting in an actual reduction in CO₂ emissions of less than 9%. Another example of a 'green' initiative that has led to massive waste of public funds and enrichment of private business.
