Senior Citizen's ID on a Student Card: University for Silver-Age People Opens in Borovlyany

A social and educational project helps retirees from the Minsk district master modern technologies, acquire useful skills, and make their leisure time as active as possible.

No boring theory or exams — only hands-on practice and live communication across four key areas:

▪️Digital and financial literacy: seniors learn to use smartphones, internet banking, pay utility bills online, and recognize online scammers.

▪️Creativity and crafts: creative courses include floristry, drawing, singing, dancing, and theater arts.

▪️Cultural studies and history: immersion in masterpieces of world art and virtual travel.

▪️Health and wellness: special classes to maintain physical fitness.

"For me, this silver-age university has become a true inspiration and a place of strength. Here, we learn to live in step with the times," shared student Antonina Shibko.

Demand for these courses is high — in Borovlyany alone, about 60 people enrolled within a month, and across Minsk, the project unites over 1,000 residents aged 60+ annually.

The organizers' top priority now is developing silver volunteering, where the invaluable life experience of older people becomes the foundation for mutual support.
