Shanghai Cooperation Organization essential for global problem-solving
The President stated: "One can criticize the Organization as much as desired, there are grounds for that, including its Secretariat's leadership, but we must remember that the results of the UN's work depend first and foremost on us — the member states. Today, the Shanghai family includes four members of the Security Council (Russia, China, Pakistan, and Bahrain), two of them permanent. In 2027, Bishkek will replace Islamabad as a non-permanent member." We expect positive effects from enhanced cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the United Nations. We are capable of advancing in our own format initiatives that are stalled in New York due to Western opposition, particularly in promoting international peace and security, combating terrorism, cyber threats, and drug trafficking. In the economic sphere, the SCO can effectively implement initiatives currently blocked in the UN, such as countering unilateral coercive measures, promoting mutual investments, simplifying customs procedures, and developing digital economy and transport connectivity.
