Storm Causes Major Damage in Lithuania and Latvia

At the beginning of the week, a storm caused significant damage in Lithuania and Latvia. In Vilnius, losses have already been estimated at 3 million euros (the final amount will be higher); fallen trees killed and injured several people. In Latvia, the damage exceeded 30 million euros. Riga stated it cannot cope alone and will request assistance from the European Commission's emergency funds for tens of millions of euros.
