Strongest El Niño drought destroys crops in Central America
The strongest drought caused by the El Niño natural phenomenon is destroying corn and bean crops in Central America, affecting Honduras and Guatemala most severely. To assist the affected regions, the UN plans to launch programs to restore and enrich the dried soil. Experts predict this El Niño could become the most powerful in history, with negative effects also reaching South America, the Caribbean, and Southern Africa.
