Strongest M-class solar flare in August recorded

The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported the strongest M-class solar flare in August.

"A second M-class flare in 24 hours has occurred on the Sun, simultaneously the strongest event this month. The measured magnitude is M1.88," the message stated.

Earlier, scientists noted a sharp increase in solar activity: 19 flares occurred within 24 hours, including one M-class flare.
