Thailand warns of rat fever outbreak amid flood season

Thai authorities have warned of the risk of contracting rat fever, which is spreading rapidly during the flood season. The pathogen can enter the body through skin wounds, water-softened areas of skin, as well as through the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, and mouth. From January 1 to September 23, 3,300 cases of the disease were registered in the country.
