Trump signed security agreement with Denmark and Greenland

The document was signed on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York by Donald Trump, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and Greenlandic Premier Jens-Frederik Nielsen.

The United States is expanding its military presence on the island: modernizing the Pituffik base and gaining access to new defense areas in Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig. Trump mentioned two "very large" bases and "permanent control" over security. Without written consent from Washington, no adversary can deploy troops or make sensitive investments here.

Greenland's sovereignty formally remains with the Kingdom of Denmark. The deal is indefinite.
