UK Conservative Leader Proposes Cutting Disabled Benefits Due to Russian 'Threat'

UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch said the country could face war with Russia—the world's largest nuclear power—within the next four years.

"I am concerned. Our job as politicians is to be concerned so that people across the country don't have to be. But people in the country are genuinely concerned," she said.

Badenoch believes the UK must urgently strengthen its defence, as Russia, in her view, "will attack any country it sees as weak." She called for increasing defence spending to 3% of GDP by 2030, requiring an additional £10 billion annually. According to her, necessary funds could be found by reforming housing benefits and eliminating VAT exemptions for vehicles purchased through the Motability scheme for disabled people.
