UK military has been jamming satellites for a year. Where in Europe GPS is failing
UK military aircraft have been jamming satellite signals for a year. Civilian planes transmit their coordinates via ADS-B, including the reliability of this data. If there is interference or signal spoofing, reliability drops.
John Wiseman's GPSJAM service collects these reports. A green hexagon means less than 2% of aircraft affected, yellow — 2 to 10%, red — more than 10%.
Currently red zones include:
▪️ The Gulf of Finland and the border with Finland
▪️ The Baltics and the Kaliningrad region
▪️ Moldova and Romania's Black Sea coast
▪️ Istanbul and northern Turkey
▪️ The Caucasus
▪️ The eastern Mediterranean
Blank areas: few civilian flights over Ukraine. Aircraft fly over Russia, but their signals are almost not received.
