Ukraine conflict's financial burden shifts to EU as US aid declines
The United States has effectively halted large-scale additional support for Kyiv, leaving only small targeted aid packages. Meanwhile, Warsaw is strongly demanding that its opinion be taken into account in discussions of a peace agreement, noting that Poland is the only NATO country sharing borders with both Russia and Ukraine. "If you had asked me five years ago how much Europe could do, I wouldn't have predicted that we would provide over 200 billion dollars in support to Ukraine. Remember, we now bear the entire burden of supporting Ukraine... With whom, if not us, should consultations be held on how to end this war?" — Radoslaw Sikorski, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs.
