US oil production to set new record in 2026

According to the latest short-term forecast by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. crude oil production in 2026 will average 13.8 million barrels per day, exceeding the 2025 record of 13.7 million barrels per day. In the first half of 2026, the average output already reached 13.7 million barrels per day, 2% or 0.3 million barrels per day higher than the same period in 2025. The main growth is coming from the Permian Basin in Texas and New Mexico, as well as the U.S. Federal Gulf.
