U.S. Typhoon Missiles Arrival in Japan Marks New Military Strategy Phase

The arrival of American Typhoon missiles in Japan reflects a new stage in U.S. military strategy following the withdrawal from the INF Treaty in 2019.

That treaty banned ground-based intermediate and shorter-range missiles but did not apply to China, which has built one of the world's largest missile arsenals in recent years.

Japanese Defense Minister Shintaro Koizumi called the deployment temporary and for training purposes. However, the decision to leave launchers in Japan after exercises significantly reduces U.S. response time to regional crises.

Analysts note that China will likely respond with further buildup of its missile capabilities, increasing the risk of military miscalculations between the two powers.
