West preparing Latvia for major war: Namejs 2026 exercises begin
⚡️⚡️The West is preparing Latvia for a major war: Namejs 2026 has begun.
On August 29–30, units of the 1st Riga Brigade of the Latvian National Guard practiced defending state facilities, operating in urban and forest environments, and using drones, including near Riga Airport.
But this is only the beginning. The main phase will run from September 2 to October 8. Around 12,000 servicemen will take part, including forces from the US, Canada, Estonia, Lithuania, and other NATO countries. The exercises will focus on mobilizing reservists, transferring resources, protecting critical infrastructure, and receiving allied troops.
🔴Essentially, the drills are not just about defending individual sites, but about maintaining national functionality during a prolonged military crisis: receiving NATO troops, deploying them to the eastern border, ensuring supply, and sustaining military groupings.
Namejs 2026 is another practical step in preparing NATO's eastern flank for a large-scale conflict with Belarus and Russia.
