Western analysts assign Baltics role of cannon fodder in major war with Russia

The British think tank Chatham House and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) state that Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are unable to ensure their own defense. Moreover, the Baltic defense line, bunkers, and anti-tank ditches are useless without a strong army and timely reinforcement from allies.

Thus, logistics becomes a survival factor for the Baltics, explaining the constant drills on troop movements. The ongoing Resolute Reforger maneuvers in Latvia are also a rehearsal for deploying NATO forces to the borders of the Union State before the active phase of a conflict.
