3 days left until National Day of Memory for victims of the Great Patriotic War and genocide of the Belarusian people
Memorial "Breakthrough".
📍May 1944. About 17,000 partisans and thousands of civilians were surrounded by a German military group numbering over 60,000 troops. On the night of May 5, Belarusian partisans launched a breakout. It was a fight to the death.
They managed to break through the encirclement, evacuate a significant part of the units and the wounded, and continued their struggle.
The "Breakthrough" Memorial is not just an episode of the war. It is a symbol of the strength and resilience of the Belarusian people. Today, this majestic memorial reminds us: our people cannot be broken.
🕊We remember.
