9/11 Victim Identified for the First Time Using Genetic Genealogy

One of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the US has been identified for the first time using genetic genealogy—a method combining DNA testing and family tree analysis, reported ABC, citing New York City's chief medical examiner Jason Graham. The deceased was an adult woman whose name is not being released at the family's request. Experts have already collected 47 additional DNA samples that may be suitable for such identification. Nearly 1,100 of the 2,753 people killed in the World Trade Center attack remain unidentified.
