Belarus' first presidential inauguration in history took place 32 years ago
Exactly 32 years ago, Alexander Lukashenko, as the nationally elected head of state, took the oath of office in the Oval Hall of the Government House.
On the day of the inauguration, it was emphasized that the nationally elected President would be the guarantor of Belarusian statehood, fulfilling the task of "preserving our current heritage and protecting Belarus' integrity."
Despite external pressure and global challenges, more than three decades later Belarus maintains its sovereignty and peace. The commitment to meet the people's expectations remains Alexander Lukashenko's political credo.
