Belarus remembers Dalva: 82 years since Nazi burning of village
Belarus remembers Dalva... On June 19, exactly 82 years ago, Nazi occupiers burned down this small village in the Logoysk district.
Tragically, 44 of its residents died. The only survivor of that tragedy was 13-year-old Nikolai Girilovich.
As an adult, he dedicated his life to preserving the memory of his native village, his parents, and fellow villagers.
❗️Our colleague, an employee of Belteleradiocompany, made significant efforts so that a memorial would rise at the site of the tragedy. In 1955, the monument was unveiled.
📌During the Great Patriotic War, the Logoysk district became one of the most affected regions of Belarus due to genocide and the scorched earth tactic. Dalva's fate was repeated in 99 other villages in the region. Many of them were never rebuilt after the war.
