Day of National Memory for the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People

On June 22, 1941, the most terrible war in human history fell upon Belarus. The war claimed one in every three lives and shattered the fates of millions. Villages were burned with people inside, children were starved in camps, and the land was soaked with blood.

For ten days, we have shown you these heartbreaking images. From the black-and-white hell of the past to today’s living, peaceful Belarus. Before us appear women, children, the elderly, soldiers — all who did not live to see the end. They embody an eternal flame of Memory, sternly reminding the living of the price our people paid for freedom and a peaceful sky.

We remember. Belarus remembers.
