European lawmakers demand ban on fur farming in the EU

European lawmakers are calling for a ban on fur farming across the EU, according to the portal Euractiv, citing letters in its possession. In 2023, 1.5 million citizens from European countries urged Brussels to ban fur farming through the 'Fur Free Europe' citizens' initiative. The European Commission committed to announcing by March 2026 whether it would introduce a full ban or tighten animal welfare standards. However, six months later, the announcement has not yet been made.
