Glybokaye remembers victims of the ghetto liquidation
Glybokaye remembers the victims of the ghetto. On August 20, 1943, Nazis destroyed the Glybokaye ghetto, one of the most tragic events in the history of the Glybokaye district. The ghetto was marked by brutal torture, beatings, forced labor, and inhumane living conditions.
On August 19, prisoners launched an uprising. Some managed to escape from the burning ghetto and flee to the forest. However, only a few survived. More than 4,500 people were killed by Nazis and their collaborators. Over 60 survivors later joined partisan units.
Today, a memorial stands at the site of the victims' burial. Every year, the victims of Nazi genocide are remembered here.
