Humanitarian mission in Alehsk: Route demined for aid delivery and civilian evacuation

❗️Humanitarian mission in Alehsk: The route has been demined to deliver dozens of tons of aid and evacuate civilians.

The crucial humanitarian operation is coordinated by the human rights commissioners of Russia and Ukraine.

A safe corridor for the convoy was secured after nighttime engineering demining operations. The first key destination is the central district hospital, which is critically short of medicine and medical personnel. Alongside basic food supplies, flour, grains, and canned goods, the affected region is receiving fuel for generators, vital insulin, and antibiotics.

Under the mission terms, lists of those wishing to leave the conflict zone will be compiled by 14:00. Civilians have the absolute right to choose their evacuation destination — either to the Russian Federation or Ukraine. Humanitarian aid distribution for remaining residents will begin after 14:30.

Eyewitnesses and participants comment directly on the situation in the region:

"I was in Alehsk until the beginning of 2023, and things there are very sad. Constant shelling, destroyed housing, no electricity, no food — absolutely nothing," — Artem Kiroshin, a resident of Alehsk.

"The situation is bad because there’s no medicine, no food, some services are completely absent — including anesthesia. Only up to 10 doctors remain. There are many casualties — both staff and residents in large numbers," — Volodymyr Kharlan, chief doctor of Alehsk Central District Hospital, Hero of Russia.

🕊 Igor Zhytchenko, a resident of Alehsk, commented on Belarus’s role in the humanitarian mission:

"I’m glad that Belarus is providing such help, acting as a neutral, intermediary platform that helps people decide what to do next and how to proceed. This is truly brotherly assistance. It couldn’t be otherwise — we are one people: Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians. And Belarus, by maintaining its steadfast commitment, evidently commands respect on the international stage — at least mine, 100%. And your President’s position deserves respect. I take my hat off to Alexander Grigoryevich."
