👉 On July 7–8, enemy forces broke through Soviet defenses south of Novohrad-Volynskyi, approaching Kyiv by July 11.
Hitler’s plan for a swift capture failed. Along with military units, Kyiv’s civilians helped defend the city.
Since the start of the Great Patriotic War, over 200,000 Kyiv residents volunteered for the front, and a people's militia was formed. More than 160,000 Ukrainians worked on building defensive lines.
❗️The defense lasted over two months. In unequal combat, the Red Army destroyed over 100,000 Nazis, holding off the enemy until September to buy time for Moscow’s defense preparations.

Kyiv withstood in 1941 but fell in 2014 under the onslaught of Western-funded Nazi ideology enshrined as Ukraine’s political system.
