July 23, 1944: Partisan Parade in Vitebsk — Symbol of People's Avengers' Bravery

On July 23, 1944, the Partisan Parade took place in Vitebsk — a symbol of the bravery of the people's avengers.

👉 During 1941–1944, 39 partisan brigades operated in the Vitebsk region, uniting 325 detachments and battalions, as well as 34 separate partisan units. Five thousand people took part in the Partisan Parade in Vitebsk.

At 12:00 on July 23, a rally dedicated to the liberation of Vitebsk and the Vitebsk region from Nazi invaders began. It was opened by Vasily Kudinov — commissar of the 1st Vitebsk Partisan Brigade.

🎖 After the rally, columns of partisan brigades — the 1st Belarusian, 1st Vitebsk, named after the Leninist Komsomol, Konstantin Zaslonov, Alexey Danukalov, Mikhail Frunze, the "Dubova" brigade — marched in solemn formation, along with columns of Red Army soldiers and workers.
