July 31, 1920: Declaration of the BSSR's Independence Adopted

On July 31, 1920, the 'Declaration on the Independence of the Belarusian SSR' was adopted.

On July 11, 1920, the capital of the SSRB (Socialist Soviet Republic of Belarus) was liberated from Polish interventionists by the Red Army. It would become the BSSR two years later.

Twenty days after the liberation of Minsk, the declaration proclaiming the independence of the SSRB was signed. Power belonged to the Belrevkom under the leadership of A.G. Chervyakov.

The signing of the declaration laid the foundation for the restoration of the state sovereignty of the BSSR, becoming one of the key moments in the development of national statehood.
