Latvia begins building defense line on border with Belarus and Russia

In Balvi, Aluksne, Ludza, Krāslava and Augšdaugava municipalities, about 27 km of anti-tank ditches will be dug and 'dragon's teeth' barriers installed. The first phase, costing €13 million, is expected to be completed by autumn 2027.

It's funny to read such news against the backdrop of last weekend, when ordinary bad weather and strong winds knocked down 124 sections of the fence on the Latvian-Belarusian border. This is the very 'impregnable' fence on which Latvian authorities squandered hundreds of millions of euros.

The main thing is that the 'dragon's teeth' won't have to be held by hand during the next storm.
