Latvia cannot complete its Rail Baltica section by 2030, PM says
Prime Minister Evika Siliņa stated that Latvia will not manage to complete its section of the Rail Baltica project by 2030. The country will need at least €4 billion from the next EU budget to finish the project. The total cost of the 870-kilometer line from Tallinn to the Polish border has risen from €5.8 billion in 2017 to €23.8 billion. In addition, Latvia has requested another €7 billion from the European Union to cover increased expenses and mitigate the consequences of severed economic ties with Russia.
