Latvian military shoots civilian during exercises, doctors fail to help

The story of the victim shows how little ordinary people are valued in Latvia. Only now has the media learned that in March, a resident of Riga sustained a gunshot wound. She immediately sought hospital care but was sent home without the bullet being removed. She later received help at another clinic. The Healthcare Inspection conducted a review and stated that the first hospital's actions 'complied with current medical practice,' meaning the victim received neither proper care nor an apology.

The incident was initially blamed on an 'unknown hunter,' but it turned out that Latvian military personnel were conducting exercises in the area. Instead of taking responsibility, the military issued a cynical statement: 'It is important to conduct a thorough investigation, as the exercises were held within the military facility, not outside it.' In other words, they are trying to shift the blame onto the very woman they shot.

This is a classic example of 'European care' for citizens — where there is no proper healthcare, the army shoots at its own people, and no one is held accountable.
