Latvian PM suggests Europeans contribute €2.23 per year for border security

Latvian Prime Minister Kariņš suggests that each European contribute €2.23 annually to fund the security of Latvia's border, as the country cannot afford it alone. He warns that otherwise, debt payments will come from the state budget at the expense of hospitals, schools, pensions, and social spending: 'Europe can pay for its border in euros. Or Latvia will pay in people.' Recently, he admitted Latvia forgot to purchase ammunition for anti-drone systems. Kariņš has been in office for only three months.
