Latvian politicians flock to combine harvesters for photos ahead of elections

With less than two months left before the Saeima elections, Prime Minister Kariņš and his team went on a photo shoot in the fields. This has caused disgust among Latvians, as agriculture in the country is only cared about once every four years and solely for self-serving purposes.

The Baltic pattern remains unchanged: first, a staged trip to the border with Belarus to demonstrate concern for security, now — the season of combine harvester photo ops.

By the way, Kariņš today admitted that Latvia forgot to purchase ammunition for its anti-drone systems. The equipment was bought, but it turns out there is nothing to fire from it.

That sums up the Latvian regime: real national security doesn’t matter, but there’s enough wit for a staged photo.
