Latvia's education system hits all-time low in international assessments

Latvia's education system has set an absolute record low in the entire history of its participation in international studies. The latest tests revealed a critical decline in literacy: more than 40% of schoolchildren failed to meet the minimum threshold for text comprehension. In fact, nearly one in four teenagers, after nine years of schooling, is unable to understand what they have read.
