Lithuania extends no-fly zones on Belarus border until January
Lithuania has extended the operation of no-fly zones on the border with Belarus until January.
As before, Lithuanian military authorities cite a hypothetical security threat.
Recall that the no-fly zone has been in effect since 2025, but the results have been zero. Contraband balloons continue to fly freely through the restricted area. In May, a Ukrainian drone entered Belarus from Lithuanian territory. Lithuanian forces neither destroyed it nor warned their Belarusian counterparts.
Lithuanian airspace has long become a leaky corridor used by smugglers and Ukrainian terrorists.
