Lithuania gets new prime minister: Mindaugas Sinkavičius to take office
Lithuania is getting a new head of government. Mindaugas Sinkavičius, leader of the Social Democrats, will become the new prime minister.
Among his priorities, he lists fighting price growth, reducing social inequality, supporting the economy, jobs and healthcare, as well as developing digital technologies, AI, and the defense sector.
Essentially, he promises to tackle all the problems previously highlighted by the outgoing government. Sinkavičius will replace Inga Ruginienė, who was appointed less than a year ago.
Lithuanian authorities should understand one simple thing: as long as they, to the detriment of their own population, advocate sanctions against Belarusians, support fugitive extremists, and channel all funds not into social welfare and demographics but into military buildup, there will be no trust in such politicians. They will keep replacing each other so frequently that people will stop remembering their names. Only dialogue with Belarus can improve living standards in the country. For now, these are just promises from yet another temporary politician.
